Hiking and Outdoors
hike: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Join the Frassati Fellowship for our latest hike at South Mountain Reservation! This is an easy, but very scenic trail where we will encounter two waterfalls and walk along a stream! If you have been waiting for a less strenuous, more accessible hike, this one's for you! We will meet for early morning mass and breakfast, and take a short NJ Transit ride to the trailhead. We will eat our lunches on the trail and have time set aside for reveling in God's creation, as well as some low-pressure group prayer. After the hike, we will have dinner together at a local establishment and then return to NYC.
Date/Time: Sunday, September 24, 8am-8pm
Location: South Mountain Reservation
We will send more details (what to bring, where to meet, etc.) to those who register. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Future dates: Sunday, October 22
Saturday, November 18
Sunday, January 28
Saturday, February 24
PAST EVENT: CENTRAL PARK CONTEMPLATIVE WALK: July 21
Come join us for a different take on the famous Frassati hike, this time in Central Park. Busy summers and long July evenings call for some peaceful recollection in NYC's backyard. We will meet for Mass and then explore the Ramble section of the park, including stops for prayer, silence, and reflection. When we run out of sunlight we can continue on for fellowship nearby.
Date/Time: Friday July 21, 6:00 pm
Location: Church of Saint Vincent Ferrer 869 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10065
RSVP by emailing us at email@example.com.
PAST EVENT: BIKE & PICNIC: July 29
Share your good spirits on a bike ride! Frassati Recreation is hosting a day biking event. Please note: This is not a triathlon training event, but a fun bike ride.
Don’t have a bike? Frassati has teamed up with Unlimited Biking to get you a discount – one hour free! This ride will be 2-3 hours long, so there will be a rental cost (~$15-20 with the discount) if you need to rent a bike. Please register by July 22 if you need to rent a bike – your confirmation email will contain more details on that process.
The ride will start on the Hudson River Greenway, and then over to Central Park, where we will do the full loop, starting from the top. If you sign up for this ride, you must be comfortable biking in the street (mostly bike lanes) for a portion of the ride. (If you are not comfortable biking on the street, stay tuned – we hope to have other rides later in the summer/early fall).
After returning bike rentals, we’ll picnic in the north part of the park for lunch. More details on what to bring/meeting locations will be sent to those who register.
