“Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word, always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”
"I look upon myself as a weak little bird, with only light down as covering. I am not an eagle, but I have only an eagle's eyes and heart."
Happy Feast of St Thérèse!
The Little Flower had a love for Jesus that burned her whole person like wildfire. I love her words that admit to being a teeny, sorry little creature with the inner workings – eyes and heart – of a majestic one. That’s her little way. To know and live each one in his own littleness, ordinariness, and insignificance all the while knowing the extraordinary power of Him who lives in us and does all the work we set out to do.
To echo Alida’s advice from yesterday, let kindness draw you out of yourself. Let each act, no matter how silly or insignificant, be an act of love and devotion for God. It is in completing each of the smallest tasks with complete surrender and the love of something much greater than what we are that we will work out our salvation. I will pray that St Therese, who hoped to spend her Heaven doing good on earth, implore the intercession of Our Blessed Mother and of our dear Blessed Pier Giorgio for God to increase our love for Him.
St Thérèse of Lisieux, pray for us!
St Maria Goretti, pray for us!
Blessed Pier Giorgio, pray for us.
