Frassati Hike
"I am reminded of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati - soon to be a saint - who in Turin went to the homes of the poor to bring help. Pier Giorgio was from a wealthy family, upper middle class, but he did not grow up 'in cotton wool', he did not get lost in the 'good life', because in him there was the sap of the Holy Spirit, there was love for Jesus and for his brothers." - Pope Francis' remarks at a Vatican Audience with volunteers from the Circolo San Pietro on June 24, 2024

Frassati Hike
"Finally there is the apostolate of persuasion. This is one of the most beautiful and necessary. Young people, approach your colleagues at work who live their lives away from the Church and spend their free time not in healthy pastimes, but in vices. Persuade those unfortunate people to follow the ways of God, strewn with many thorns, but also many roses." - Text from Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati's letter to the members of "Catholic Youth" of Pollone dated July 29, 1923

"Even today, Pier Giorgio's life is a beacon for lay spirituality. For him, faith was not a private devotion, but it was driven by the power of the Gospel and his membership in ecclesial associations. He was also generously committed to society, contributed to political life and devoted himself ardently to the service of the poor." - Text from Pope Leo XIV's homily for the canonization Mass for Saints Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati on September 7, 2025

"And when you become totally consumed by this Eucharistic Fire, then you will be able to thank with greater awareness the Lord God who has called you to be part of His flock and you will enjoy that peace which those who are happy according to the world have never tasted. Because true happiness, young people, does not consist in the pleasures of the world and in earthly things, but in peace of conscience which we can have only if we are pure in heart and in mind." - July 29, 1923 letter from Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati to the members of Catholic Youth of Pollone

Frassati Hike June 2025
"But how does one prepare oneself for the great Transition and when? Since one does not know when Death will come to take him away, it is very prudent to prepare onself every day as if one is going to die that same day; and so from now on I will try to make every day a little preparation for death, so that I shouldn't find myself unprepared at the point of death and have to regret the beautiful years of youth, wasted from the spiritual side." - Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati's July 19, 1923 letter to Tonino
