Mercy Hike

  • St. Vincent Ferrer Parish Hall 869 Lexington Avenue New York, NY, 10065 United States (map)

Frassati Fellowship of NYC invites you to speak the Language of Service by participating in our first Mercy Hike in the City. As hikes require energy, resistance, and a goal which is to get to the top and observe the view, a mercy hike meets the same purpose but in a spiritual way. As in a hike, we would use the same energy and resistance to practice works of mercy, and our view would be the face of Christ which Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati also sought and which made him a man of the beatitudes. Mercy hikes do not always require big distances, but big mercy which moves us all.  With this ardent love to serve the poor we invite you to bring one jacket/coat of your own possession to be given out. The format for this day will begin with a talk on the works of mercy, and what to expect in the streets of NYC.  We will then go out in teams to "give what we have and give to the poor".
